Crestor, an oral medication used to treat high cholesterol, is one of the most prescribed drugs in the world. Crestor can be taken once or twice a day, depending on your response and any side effects. Patients typically start on the lower dose and gradually increase it as needed. Doctors typically prescribe it three times a day, usually four to five times a week. The recommended dose of Crestor for adults and children is 20 mg daily. Your doctor will monitor your cholesterol levels closely during your treatment, and may adjust your dosage based on these factors. Your doctor may also recommend other medications, such as antithrom- reductase inhibitors, or certain statins, to lower your cholesterol levels. While Crestor is available in the United States, many patients also take it as an alternative to statins, such as atorvastatin (Lipitor) and atorvastatin (Lipitor).
